Dick Butkus is a former American football player and sports commentator, widely regarded as one of the greatest linebackers in the history of the National Football League (NFL). Born on December 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Butkus played college football at the University of Illinois before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 1965 NFL Draft.

During his illustrious nine-season career with the Bears, Butkus was known for his aggressive playing style and ferocious tackling ability. His intimidating presence on the field earned him the nickname "The Most Feared Man in the Game." Butkus was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, was a First-Team All-Pro selection on five occasions, and was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year twice.

After retiring from professional football in 1973 due to a knee injury, Butkus transitioned to a successful career as a sports commentator, actor, and commercial spokesperson. He has appeared in numerous television shows, movies, and commercials over the years.

In 1979, Butkus was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and in 1985, he was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. He remains an icon and inspiration for aspiring football players, and his number 51 jersey has been retired by both the Chicago Bears and the University of Illinois.
