Chad Channing is an American musician who is best known for being the drummer of the rock band Nirvana from 1988 until 1990, during their formative years. Channing's contributions to Nirvana were significant during the early days of the band. He played on their debut album "Bleach", and his style of drumming helped to shape the band's early sound.

Born on January 31, 1967, in Santa Rosa, California, Channing was interested in music from a young age. Before joining Nirvana, he played in several bands, including Tic-Dolly-Row and The Methodists.

Channing joined Nirvana in 1988, replacing drummer Dale Crover. With Channing on drums, Nirvana began to gain a following in the Seattle music scene and released their debut album, "Bleach," in 1989. However, by 1990, musical differences began to emerge between Channing and the rest of the band.

Channing left the band in 1990, before the recording of the band's breakthrough album, "Nevermind." After leaving Nirvana, Channing played in several other bands, including The Fire Ants and Before Cars. Despite his departure from the band, Channing's contribution to Nirvana's early success is undeniable.

Chad Channing's musical legacy is evident in his dynamic drumming style, which helped to lay the groundwork for Nirvana's groundbreaking grunge sound. Today, he continues to influence and inspire musicians around the world with his unique approach to drumming
