Allan Moffat is a prominent figure in Australian motorsport history, best known for his illustrious career in touring car racing. Born in Canada on November 10, 1939, Moffat moved to Australia in the 1960s and quickly became a dominant force in Australian motorsport.

Moffat's racing career is highlighted by his four wins at the prestigious Bathurst 1000—in 1970, 1971, 1973, and 1977. These victories cemented his status as a racing legend. He is equally famous for his intense rivalry with fellow driver Peter Brock, which captivated racing fans and added a thrilling narrative to the sport during his active years.

Driving primarily Ford vehicles, including the iconic Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III, Moffat's name became synonymous with Ford performance in Australia. He won the Australian Touring Car Championship four times (1973, 1976, 1977, and 1983) and his aggressive driving style and strategic prowess on the track were his trademarks.

Aside from his achievements on the track, Moffat also made significant contributions to the sport off the track. He was known for his meticulous approach to preparation and vehicle setup, which often gave him an edge in competitions. His attention to detail and deep understanding of racing mechanics helped elevate the professionalism in Australian motorsports.

After retiring from full-time driving in 1989, Moffat remained involved in the racing community as a team owner and mentor to younger drivers, passing on his valuable experience and passion for the sport.

Moffat’s contributions to motorsport have been recognized with various honors, including his induction into the V8 Supercar Hall of Fame and the Order of Australia for his services to motorsport. Allan Moffat remains a revered figure in the world of racing, particularly in Australia, where his legacy continues to influence new generations of racing enthusiasts.
