If you are a child of the 80s like I am there is no doubt you would have loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I was a huge fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I even had the original arcade machine in my store for a while until it sold to a die hard fan of the show.

Funk was founded in 1998 by Mike Becker who is a toy collector. He started the company from his home in Snohomish, Washington. Funko licensed the rights to the Austin Powers bobbleheads and sold 80000 units and then after this they sold the Grinch, Tony the Tiger and Cheerio’s mascot. Back in 2005 Mike sold Funko to the now CEO Brian Mariotti.

Kevin Eastman was born on the 30th of May, 1962 and is best known for co-creating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Peter Laird and was formerly the editor and publisher of the magazine Heavy Metal.

It was back in May 1984 that Kevin and Peter self published a black and white edition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they borrowed $1000 from Kevin’s Uncle and printed 3275 copies.

Donatello, nicknamed Don or Donnie is one of the four characters of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and he is also Peter Laird’s favourite turtle and as a child was also my favourite turtle.

This Funko Pop signed by Kevin Eastman sold a few days ago to a client of mine in South Australia, it is such a cool item as it also has a little sketch of Donatello’s head.
