Walt Disney was born on the 5th of December 1901 at the residential address of 1249 Tripp Avenue, Chicago. When Walt was four the family moved to a farm in Missouri where his uncle Robert purchased land. It was in Missouri where Walt developed an interest in drawing and was paid by a retried local doctor to draw his horse.
The history of Disneyland dates back to the 1940s when Walt took his daughters on the Carousel at Griffith park in Los Angeles and as he watched his girls he dreamed of a place that families could be together and where children could have fun.
Walt’s original concept was just going to be a small park with a boat ride and a few themed rides but his original project outgrew the proposed location and needed bigger space and found this space 27 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Originally called “The Mickey Mouse Park” then “Disneylandia” and then finally Disneyland was constructed in 1954 and cost over $17 Million dollars. On Sunday the 17th of July 1955 Disneyland opened its gates for the first time with 18 rides and attractions and an admission cost of just $1.00 and just after one year of opening Disneyland had welcomed 5 million visitors.
