Rudy Giuliani is an American attorney, businessman, and former politician who served as the 107th Mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 28, 1944, Giuliani attended Manhattan College and later graduated from New York University School of Law.

Before becoming Mayor Rudy  Giuliani worked as a lawyer, both in private practice and for the government. He served as the United States Associate Attorney General from 1981 to 1983 and as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1983 to 1989. In these roles, he gained a reputation for being tough on crime, notably prosecuting high-profile cases against organized crime figures and white-collar criminals.

Giuliani's tenure as Mayor of New York City was marked by a significant reduction in crime, as well as a focus on quality-of-life issues. His administration implemented various policing strategies, including the "broken windows" approach, which emphasized cracking down on minor offenses to prevent more serious crimes. Additionally, he led the city's efforts to revitalize Times Square and other areas that had suffered from neglect and high crime rates.

Giuliani gained international prominence for his leadership following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. He was widely praised for his calm and resolute demeanor in the face of tragedy, earning him the nickname "America's Mayor." In 2002, he was named Time magazine's Person of the Year.

After leaving office, Giuliani founded Giuliani Partners, a security consulting and crisis management firm, and later joined the law firm Bracewell & Giuliani. He ran for the Republican nomination for President in 2008 but was unsuccessful.

In recent years, Giuliani has been a controversial figure due to his association with former President Donald Trump. He served as Trump's personal attorney and was involved in various legal and political issues, including the impeachment trials and investigations into alleged election fraud. Giuliani's public image has been significantly affected by these associations and his sometimes erratic public appearances.

Despite the controversies surrounding his recent activities, Rudy Giuliani's legacy as a crime-fighting prosecutor and Mayor of New York City during a transformative period remains an important part of his career and American history.
