The 81-year-old has been in the film industry for over 50 years and has won a couple of awards and nominations.  It is important to note that he is among 15 women and nine men who have received the Triple Crown of Acting (meaning he won an Emmy, Academy, and Tony Awards).

Al Pacino’s career kicked off in 1947, and he has acted in more than 50 films, including The God Father Part I, II and III, Frankie and JohnnyScent of a Woman, and The Irish Man.

Now that you know a little about Pacino’s history let us fill you in on more things you didn’t know about the 81-year-old.

1. Al Pacino Came From a Broken Home

Alfredo Pacino revealed that his parents divorced when he was two years old, and he later moved to his grandparents’ place with his mother.

He claims that his father was not present in most of his life.

2. He Has Never Been Married

We are not sure why Alfredo never tied the knot, but it could be to avoid repeating his parents’ love life.

He has three children, Julie Marie Pacino, twenty-five, and twins Olivia Pacino and Anton James Pacino, fourteen. 

He dated Beverly D’ Angelo, the twins’ mother, from 1996 to 2003 but they never got married.

3. He Abstained From Hard Drugs

The Oscar-winning star started using drugs at the young age of 9. The actor hit his first Kush joint at 13 years but that was as far as he went.

He abstained from hard drugs because he lost his first best friend at 19 and his other at 30, and both of them died from drug abuse.

 Al later found a friend in Robert Deniro, and they have been best friends for over 50 years. We know that the two never shy away when publicly proclaiming their love for each other. 

4. In 1962 He Was At His Lowest

We all have that one point in life where we felt we couldn’t live through. For Al, 1962 was the year. 

He was twenty-two years old at the time. His mother and grandfather died. Pacino looked up to the two of them, so he lost his will to live according to him. 

However, he soldiered on and had a successful audition for the Actors studio, four years after his loss.

5. He is a Bardolater

When he was young, he didn’t know the author but growing up; Al Pacino became a great fan of Shakespeare. 

He was obsessed with him to the point that he acted and directed films adapted from his plays, for example The Merchant of Venice
